Awesome...

…so you are thinking of joining us. Here is an outline of what you will need to pack. If it is your first time, or you are trying to save a few quid, my advice is to borrow the gear. Invariably, you will know someone who have been before and you could borrow some of their gear. Anyway, here is what you will need

Ski Jacket

Ideally, have one with a wrist pocket for your ski pass. Once, it goes in you don't take it out for the week. Secondly, if there are vented zips under the arm pits. You can work up a sweat from the exercise so can be essential to cool down.

Gloves

A good pair of gloves are essential. The hands are the first things that will start to go cold and numb on a long chair lift. If you are buying ones, invest in a pair with a wrist strap. You'll be pulling them on and off a lot reaching into your bag or using your phone. The wrist strap is ideal to prevent you losing them or dropping them off a lift (as has happened, not naming names). Fancier ones come with Etips, so can use your phone so if you are investing in a good pair.

Goggles

When it snows you'll need it big time. Preferably ones that are breathable so they won't fog up.

Neck warmer

Key to cover your nose when it gets cold

Shorts (x2)

I like to wear gym shorts underneath my ski pants. Some like to wear leggings. The key thing is not to wear cotton. If you are sweating, which you will, they will reek pretty quick

Ski Pants

Sometimes called Salopettes. Just make sure they are waterproof and there is an elastic inner lining so the snow can get up your leg.

Wooly Hat

Hat is essential. Make sure it covers the ears.

Sunglasses

If the weather is good then these are a sweet substitute to the goggles. Especially, in aprés ski.

Long Socks (x6)

You can use football socks if you don't want to buy ski socks. They need to be long so they are longer than your ski boots

Tshirt (x3)

You can wear whatever you like beneath the ski jacket. Again, as with the shorts, if you wear cotton it will smell so gym gear or under armour tops are better. I find the under armours too restrictive but if you like wearing them normally bring them.

Ski Bag (Optional)

A small ski bag on your back can be very handy and I stress small. Perfect for keeping hats, neck warmers and glasses, as well as sun creams, water for the hangover, food and maps. One between 2/3 people is ideal. It can also double up as carry-on on the flight.

Get Packing

That should cover you for the week. If you have Ski Boots or a Helmet bring it and save yourself renting.
After that, you will just need your toiletries and your gear for nights out. On nights out, you can use your ski jacket or bring a different one. Gloves and hats are recommended too. I wouldn’t recommend using your ski gloves though as they are likely going to be drying out from the day and if you lost them you are in big trouble so a smaller lighter pair from Penneys are ideal.
The checklist is pretty comprehensive so download that and get packing!
